English Supermarket Adventures

We are fortunate to live somewhere with a several supermarket chains that offer everything you could want. There are, however, some interesting differences in the range of products to better serve the diverse population of this country. For a real education, I enjoy at visit some of the bigger store in the Leeds area that offer a wider array of products than those in the Harrogate area.

The spice section is always one of my favorites! I know people who won't use 12 oz of chili flakes in there life time.

An entire aisle of rice and legumes, all in significantly larger bags than I'm used to.

This country has an unusual obsession with flavorless and extra runny bean that are never baked and often eaten cold with breakfast.
A bean aisle...

The international section offer a few American delicacies!

I'm brave enough to try most things, but these don't sound even vaguely appealing to me.

Bread is serious in this country and it GOOD!

Having worked in the livestock feed industry, these remind me a bit too much of range cubes...

I need to do a bit of research on the uses and differences of these products.

Goose fat is the best thing that could ever happen to a roasted vegetable.

Interesting....

I'm always up for a good adventure and the international aisle is a easy way to explore. These were the random buys from the international aisle. The Poha Chevdo on the left wasn't that good. It was really greasy and didn't have much flavor. The Murukku on the right is a crunchy snack with a nice cumin flavor.

Next time, I'll take you to the meat aisle!
