My love affair with figs continues. I found yet another way to enjoy the soft succulent delicious fresh figs in Maggie Beers’ Fig Galette.  It’s a homemade puff pastry, topped with fig jam and sliced fresh figs.

Baked on a pizza stone the crust was soft and light and so slightly crispy.

It was one of the pretty things that I’ve ever slid out of an oven. Topped with vanilla custard it was a delight to the senses.  It was a perfect birthday cake even if i had to bake it myself.  Our friends Beth and Bob shared it with us.

A very wise woman once told me that life is about the story we tell at the end of the chapter. If statistics are to be believed, I’m closer to the end of my life than the beginning. I’ve quit the race to see who can have the office with best view or the most impressive job title. I’ve made peace with the fact there are some of my early dreams/goals that will never be realized. I love who I am and the women I have become AND boy do I have stories to tell!
